Jason Anderson returns to Australia to race in Melbourne and will make Auckland Supercross debut

2018 Supercross World Champion – Jason Anderson has been locked-in to compete at this year’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on November 30 and the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium on November 16.

The world champion has confirmed he will compete in both Auckland and Melbourne in the S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne which are Rounds 4 and 5 of the Australian Supercross Championship.

The two-time, back-to-back AUS-X Open winner will head down under for the third consecutive year to battle it out against the world’s best for a chance at taking out his third AUS-X Open crown.

Anderson’s 2019 World Supercross season ended early after injury forced him out of the championship following Round 3, however, the former World Champion says he’s keen to make an epic comeback and pumped to check out what Melbourne has to offer.

“This will be my first time in Melbourne. I’ve never been there but I heard it’s a super awesome city and I can’t wait to check out a new part of Australia, it’ll be fun,” Anderson said.

“My favourite thing about the AUS-X Open event is the number of fans the race attracts, they’re so enthusiastic and you can really hear the fans whenever something happens, or if you’re in a battle, you can really hear the crowd go crazy.

“Marvel Stadium is gonna be a much more open track so it’ll be fun and for sure I think we’re gonna see a lot more racing action go on.”

Anderson will head to New Zealand for the first time ever, which he says will be a fresh addition to his offseason training and is keen to check out the Auckland event.

“I’m super excited to be heading to the S-X Open Auckland, it will be my first time to New Zealand, I saw it last year and it seemed like a really epic event,” Anderson said.

The S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne are rounds 4 and 5 of the Australian Supercross Championship and are sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia (MA).

The AUS-X Open Melbourne is supported by the Victorian tourism and major events agency Visit Victoria and Monster Energy.

The S-X Open Auckland is proudly supported by Auckland Tourism Events & Economic Development (ATEED) and Monster Energy.

Both the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland and AUS-X Open Melbourne events will form part of the S-X Open International FIM Oceania Supercross Championship, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme with FIM Oceania status and sanctioning, it will be the most unique and credible international Supercross Championship outside of the USA in 2019.
